Delight Elementary School

Welcome back to school!

Delight Elementary School welcomes all our new students and incoming kindergartners, and we would also like to welcome new teachers Sherry Lamb, who is now teaching third grade, and Debbie Smith, who teaches special education.

The year is off to a terrific start. There is already a lot of activity in the elementary school. The PTO is kicking off its fund raiser the first two weeks of September, selling cookie dough. Just call Delight Elementary School for information on how to buy. And don’t forget that the PTO is still collecting box tops.

Delight will also be the site of the fourth annual Fun Run on Saturday, September 6, starting at 9:00 am. on the Delight cafeteria parking lot. This race is for kids 12 years and under and will benefit the Make A Wish Foundation. For details on registration and prizes, pick up a brochure in the elementary school office.

Don’t forget the Pike County Fair, which begins September 16 with a parade at 6:30 in Glenwood. K-3 students who bring colored rodeo sheets to the rodeo on Friday, September 19, will get in FREE. The sheets were handed out in the elementary school and can be picked up in the elementary office. Clothes line art to be displayed at the fair is due on September 10. All children K-6 may participate. 4-H will mark its 100 year celebration at the fair this year. The theme for this year is “Where the Best Come to Shine.” Mrs. Joanne McGibboney will pick up the clothes line art on September 10. For more information, you may contact her at 870-398-4243.
